Kenya ICT Board will on Thursday award a total of Sh27.6 million to eight innovative Kenyan companies.
Kenya seeks piece of lucrative internet revenue
Firms were selected from applicants who submitted proposals to the Tandaa Digital Content and Software Applications Grant Call for Proposals announced in June this year.
The board received 667 proposals in two categories: government information portal and private sector.
Top proposals submitted in the former were announced in August and included those to develop solutions for education, health, environment and cultural sectors in Kenya.
These were selected by a grant committee for their innovation and potential impact on Kenyans and to the ICT industry.
Their software range from mobile uses for enhanced lifestyles to softwares that will support farmers and small businesses in Kenya to operate more efficiently.
Winners of the Tandaa Grant demonstrate the level of software and new media creativity in Kenya.
