Ongeri gate crushes mutungas party, eats humble pie

Discussion of general formal issues!

Postby pajero » Tue Aug 07, 2012 11:19 pm

Even Foreign Affairs minister Sam Ongeri was not spared. He had accompanied Mrs Clinton from State House to the Supreme Court, and he might have expected to be freely allowed to attend the discussions with Chief Justice Mutunga.
He was wrong. He belonged to the Executive arm of government, not the Judiciary.
Asked why he was not in the session, he said: “You know I don’t belong here.” He then went to sit in his car as he couldn’t leave the compound until Mrs Clinton left.
ha hah hah...Sam Ongeri....reduced to sitting in the car like a taxi driver ama a watchie...This is the funniest thing I have read today !

Prof Ongeri is Kenya's Mini-Foreign as Hilary Clinton is America's Mini-Foreign; technically he was Hilary's Host during her visit, at par in terms of Protocol. It was his job to chaperon Hilary during her visit, everywhere except the bathroom, as it would indeed have been if the Somali Mini-Foreign was visiting the Country.

Of course this presupposes an absence of the cosmic arrogance of the Americans.

Oh, I suspect Hilary had some inappropriate (in Government terms) 'ears-only' message for Mutunga that she may not have wanted (the Executive) Politicos to hear. Useless precaution because it is the NSIS that ''sanitizes'' Mutunga's Office anyway - bugs are no longer the primitive type often seen in James Bond movies.

Pajero, if it was because of ignorance then it would be funny but Ongeri probably was feigning ignorance so that he would spy on the talks between Clinton and mutunga which he had no business listening to. May be this will be a precedent his successor will learn from. It will take the status quoists a long time to accept and internalize the fact that we are a constitutional democracy and that in the eyes of the constitution all three branches of the government are equal. Most of Kenyans other than the diasporians have spent there entire life lIving under a draconian system where the executive branch usurped all the powers from the legislative and the judiciary branches and reduced them to rubber stamp.

Where is ''junior-this-or-that'' mentioned in any post above?

I remember during the dark days of NARA, when Raila was representing Kibaki in the UN GA, and Obama convened a dinner for the heads of states and invited Raila, the Kibaki goons wrote to the white house to protest Raila's invitation saying he was not the head of state. Raila never went to the dinner but managed to meet Obama at another function. This is the mondus operendi of the status quoists. They stick to the letter and the spirit of the law when it favors them and when the law is clearly against them they try to bulldoze their way using all kinds of silly arguments that do not have any foundation in common sense, logic or law. Bure Kabisa.

I don't support ODM. But if an ODM minister were to be locked out of such a meeting b4 foreigners i'd be pretty disappointed, just as i was disappointed when Raila's bodyguards were locked out of NYAYO stadium in a rather embarrassing fiasco just after the formation of the grand coalition government. This has nothing to do with an ODM/PNU fight. it has everything to do with the contempt with which we are held by other nations. The funny thing is that it is the ODM supporters under the guise of "reforms" who always rejoice when such things happen. it seems they have borrowed a lot from their commander-in-thief who gets very excited whenever he hears the words "international community."

And by the way, if Kibaki decides to play the contempt card, he can do it pretty well. Just read Miguna's book.

Kibaki is always contemptuous when he deals with people he can afford to be contemptuous to at no cost, but sometimes he underestimate the people he deals with and it costs him. I remember when the ICC president came to advice them on the referral or deferral issue, they refused to talk to him and treated him very shabbily. They never got the deferral or the referral. The US foreign policy is based on certain principles that are not dependent on people liking them. The line of people who hate the US and sing "death to USA" evry day is very long and you new haters can join the back of the line. The USA also have several tools at their disposal to deal with those who want to go beyond expression of hate and actually do something about it. They have something for contempt too if Obako want to unleash his legendary contmpt card.

So why not just become one of them, the US, instead of lecturing us here with your patronizing Uncle Tom nonsense? As a matter of fact, Clinton has just rung the bell and wants her bidet cleaned up, hurry along now, boy.
As for their so called 'tool kit', we all know how far that has gotten them in Iraq and Afghanistan, 10 years gone and counting, and nothing to show for it. As a matter of fact, they were paying Sunnis not to attack them in Iraq before they turned tail and ran.. so much for dealing 'with those who want to go beyond expression of hate'..
