PRIME Minister Raila Odinga will tomorrow be in Rabai to celebrate the ODM victory in the Kaliang’ombe ward in the Monday by-election. Coast ODM officials led my Malindi MP Gideon Mung'aro said the PM is expected at the Kaliang’ombe Primary School for the party-cum-thanksgiving ceremony for Daniel Chibule.
“We have invited the PM who will be on tour of the Coast to the party because we want to thank the Kaliang’ombe people who heeded to our call to back ODM in the by-election. This shows that it the party of the moment in Coast,” he said. Chibule got 621 votes to beat TNA's Tsimba Benyoka, who had 321 votes.
Organizer and Malindi MP Gideon Mung’aro said several ODM officials will attend the event to thank the residents for picking Chibule who beat rivals Tsimba Benyoka of TNA who managed 321 votes while Nathaniel Nzaka of UDFP was third with 142 votes while URP’s Julius Mkauma got only 39 votes.
Mung’aro who had pitched tent in the ward with Fisheries Minister Amason Kingi said all Coast ODM MPs had been invited to the party that will punctuate the PM’s tour of Kwale and Taita Taveta counties. “We will be in Kaliang’ombe for the celebration alongside the PM in our entourage to popularize the party in Kwale and Taita Taveta counties in a show of solidarity with the residents who value our manifesto,” said Mung’aro.
ODM successfully waded stiff competition from Deputy Prime Ministers’ Uhuru Kenyatta’s TNA and Musalia Mudavadi’s UDF and even defeated URP that is associated with medical Services Assistant minister Kazungu Kambi who is the local MP. Among ODM’s Coast big guns expected at the party include tourism minister Dan Mwazo, Kisauni MP Ali Hassan Joho, Rabai constituency aspirant William Kamoti among others.
