Re: Kenya will be broke within 2-3 years

They are already busy advertising and rewarding their cronies. The real challenge in the counties is the 'other centre of power' created by the MP's and their CDF. This is a bad move in every sense. Creating jealousies and general bad blood at the local level. Good observation. But for a county like ...

Re: Kenya will be broke within 2-3 years

I did discuss this issue with one of the deputy governors and he had a very interesting take. I suggested to him that the extra staff they need to have the counties functioning may be on average in the region of 500 for each county. The numbers will need to be paid. He countered by informing me that...

Re: Egypt Is Fucked

Arabs are too hot headed for democracy. It doesnt work. From here, it can only be down for Egypt. They will appreciate the role of dictator Mubarak later. Egypt will end up being something like Sudan. Is this the Egypt that was planning to take on Ethiopia?? http://www.policymic.com/articles/52281/...

So, the top 6 Universities in Kenya are: University of Nairobi, Starthmore, KU, JKUAT , Egerton and Moi. Where are the rest and why did you forget, Maseno and Masinde Muliro and Kimathi and Iginga Odinga and Mombasa among others? What a shame [ b] 80 Egerton University- Kenya [/b] 81 Université de G...

Re: Kibaki's Rural electrification in very impressive

Power by the way is regular and fairly continuous in Kenya. I have worked in a few countries in Africa and found the Kenyan supply to be quite good both in terms of reliability and quality. There are times, but not many, when the system disappoints. I think KPLC is sometimes over vilified. How often...

Re: Kibaki's Rural electrification in very impressive

Connecting rural folk in Kenya is hard. Kenya is just 25% urban and 75% rural. Highly urbanised countries such as in west Africa and North Africa will definitely get higher results quicker. Sooner or later, connecting the next customer is going to be harder and more expensive. Moving from 75% of HH ...

Have you all seen this? I think Pundit is right. Something is sure moving http://www.moneynews.com/MKTNews/billionaires-dump-economist-stock/2012/08/29/id/450265?PROMO_CODE=1393F-1 And this is where Wiedemer explains why Buffett, Paulson, and Soros could be dumping U.S. stocks: “Companies will be sp...

When talking long term, debating the future of China and US among other powers, remember the talk is not complete until you factor in the emerging demographic and social security issues.

While you analyse all these scenarios, take a moment to ask yourself where MOS SAD is in all these. Israel has fought 2 wars since independence. They won both. The Arab neighbours have been arming themselves over the last 40 years for a decisive final assault on Israel. Then something went wrong in ...

Re: Foreigners not allowed to own land in KENYA

You read wrong. Or is it deliberate?

They are allowed to own only leaseholds of up to 99 years renewable. No more Freehold or the obscene 999 year leases for them.
And is that not the practice world over?

Re: Nairobi Is the Place to Be

GROWTH will depend on city and town plans. If these town have solid plans. Investor will come. Otherwise Juakali growth is not good. Talking about Physical Plans, almost every major town is working on something. I have seen the one for Eldoret. The one for Kisumu and Nakuru are in the works and the...

Re: Nairobi Is the Place to Be

Nakuru and Kisumu are having a problem. Nakuru has a game reserve on one side, a Lake on another and a crater on another. It is being forced to expand in a linear pattern which is very constraining. I see Naivasha and Gilgil stealing the thunder. Kisumu too has a lake and a very treacherous hill on ...
