Government Portal Reveals Mombasa County received Sh16 Billion Not Sh 4o Billion
Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho has been vindicated following a public dress down by President Uhuru Kenyatta over the way he has spent county resources.
Uhuru during a tour in Mombasa accused Joho of doing nothing with the KSh 40 billion he had received from the National Treasury.
But Joho clarified saying that was not the cumulative amount he had received adding that the correct figure was KSh 16 billion.
Joho even wrote to Treasury demanding to be given the balance even as State House refused to give an alternative figure.
But now Uhuru has been forced to eat humble pie after he admitted that indeed Mombasa received KSh 16.4 Billion.
The Jubilee government portal where the public can view the various achievements of the Uhuru administration shows Mombasa received as Equitable share of KSh 3.8 billion in 2013/14 financial year and KSh 4.5 billion in the 2014/15 fiscal year.
The county was also awarded KSh 5.2 billion in the 2015/16 period and in the current financial year(2016/17), the total was at KSh 2.8 billion as at January all totaling to KSh 16.4 billion.
This Jaluo Controller of budget needs to resign if she has no spin!
On his part, Joho insisted that he had received Sh16B and even went ahead to write to Treasury Cabinent Secretary Henry Rotich demanding the remaining Sh23B citing that it would help solve urgent development challenges in the county.
The Controller of Budget later insisted the county had received Sh29.17 Billion.
