Protests greeted IEBC declaration of Uhuru Kenyatta as the winner of August 8 General Election in some parts of the country.

Youths took to the streets of Siaya, Kisumu, parts of Nairobi and Migori to react to the announcement on Friday evening.

BATTLES

In Migori, youths engaged police in running battles in Shauri Yako slums, Sofia and Makongeni estates.

Police also dispersed protesters who had blocked Uriri-Kisii road in the border county.

There was a heavy police presence in Migori town and its environs on Friday afternoon ahead of the announcement.

There were reports of shouting and screaming in Kibera slums in the city county but it was not immediately clear if they were linked to celebrations or clashes.

TEARGAS

In Kisumu, police launched air patrols immediately IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati finished announcing the results in Nairobi.

"There are protests near airport. Air patrol currently ongoing,” a resident told the Nation.

“From my window, I’m seeing people running back from the side of the shopping centre so it’s like they're being dispersed."

Police officers also teargassed youths who lit bonfires on roads leading to Nyalenda slums.

There were reports of gunshots in Siaya town as residents took to the streets to protest the IEBC announcement.

It was not immediately clear if people were injured in the confrontations between police and the protesters.

This is a fight Kisumians cannot win.

You cannot go to a battleground with stones while your enemy is coming with tanks and expect to win.

ECONOMIC BOYCOTTS would better serve them than fight the government machinery.

Machakos is very peaceful, business as usual. Kakamega is peaceful, business as usual. Kisii is peaceful, business as usual. Mombasa is peaceful, business as usual.
Only Kisumu, Siaya, Migori, Kibera and Mathare are rioting.
My prayer is that peace prevails.
My prayer is that the rioting areas ask themselves:- why only them? Why not other areas?
My prayer is that before they riot, they ask where the money for Adopt A Polling Station amounting to sh 287 m went.
My prayer is that before they riot, they ask whether their leader set up a parallel tallying centre as promised, and whether his figures were different from IEBC figures.
That is the bare minimum I would demand before rioting. https://www.facebook.com/gordon.opiyo/p ... 3903864963

Raila was fairly defeated. He needs to concede and help to anoint new leaders other than the failed Mudavadi. wetangula, kalonzo etc. We are going on with normal life in other parts of kenya. Raila people should grief and come to terms with the defeat then move on.

Economic sabotage? You got jokes my friend. Western gets most of its produce from Kisii, Molo, Njoro and parts of RV. During the PEV, anyone who managed to take a lorry of cabbage or sukuma wiki to Kisumu for sembe was selling 10 times the price.

Murang'a is the leader in Avocado growing in Kenya. And yet, research has shown that Westrrn Kenya has the potential to produce twice the amount of Avocados grown in all of Kenya. It's output right now is abysmal.

Leadership in Central is leading in helping their people in taking advantage of this golden fruit. For example, Mwangi wa Iria has negotiated for two avocado processing factories in Murang'a. The price of an avocado has shot from 1 shilling to 8 shillings in a matter of 5 years. A seedling cost about 200 shillings. Governors have subsidized it to 100 shillings so farmers can plant more.

Meanwhile, Western leaders are sitting on their laurels in Nairobi waiting for Raila to take over the government so he can share government loot. Bure kabisa.

Western and Nyanza right now is dependent on rest of country for just about everything except sugar. And sugar shortage affects the entire country. Think, think.

There are people who want to engage in ad hominem abuse all day long on online forums, spewing bile in a seemingly unending stream.

These are, in fact, the most uneducated amongst us.

RMadawa,

Take a look at these vivid colours and call the misguided off the streets. Have you seen any violence in Kambaland?
