Dr. Matiangi rises to the occasion: bans demos in Nairobi, Mombasa, Kisumu CBD

Unread post by anonymousz » Thu Oct 12, 2017 6:31 am

Well done Dr. Matiangi! this was well overdue, hopefully the other CSs + AG will take similar steps to stem off lawlessness, threat of violence by word / action, destruction of property, economic sabotage ... like road blockages, destruction of water systems, burning on roads, abuse of media, looting, threatening government agencies ...

CS,AG, Governors, go to work! you've been shown way by Dr. Matiangi
The government has outlawed NASA anti-IEBC demos in central business districts of Nairobi, Mombasa and Kisumu.

"We cannot go on this way. It is unfortunate to see people’s cars being smashed, property being destroyed in the guise of a peaceful demonstrations. We must respect the law,” he said.

At the same time, the CS has said that the government would charge Nasa Chief Executive Norman Magaya for calling the demos that turned chaotic on Wednesday. “We shall prefer charges against him because he is the one that called the demos, after we have quantified the extent of the damage,” Dr Matiangi

The CS called on traders who lost their property during the demos to record statements with the police.

This will completely castrate NASA. While they can't demonstrate in CBD where property is at risk and the economy is disrupted, they can demonstrate on Ngong road up to Uthiru and even up to Kangemi.

This way, their right to protest is protected, while the rights of business owners in CBD to do their work unmolested is upheld. A 'win-win' for everybody. NASA can now protest and demonstrate daily to their heart's content

Broke Jakuonists should worry about how much it is going to cost them when it comes time to pay up for losses attributed to Jakuonist activities.

Babu Owino was filmed paying NASA looters and hooligans yesterday. The trail of instigation and responsibility leads back to NASA.

@obienga; this is where the AG must step up to the plate, investigate and prosecute ... IF he does NOT have the powers to hire outside law firms to take up cases like this, he should seek such registration, I know the "prosecutors" until recently were very ordinary police, but now are lawyers which has made lots of difference, but their case load is too heavy to take on the NASA thuggery

@anonymousz that duty now lies squarely in the hands of the DPP and with the DCI. Victims of Magaya and Owino have been asked to record statements. Sooner or later you will see action. As you can see Presidential candidates are not immune from the rule of law https://twitter.com/ODPP_KE/status/9173 ... 25/photo/1

There will be anti-IEBC demonstrations in Mombasa whether acting Interior CS Fred Matiang'i likes it or not, Mvita MP Abdulawamad Nassir has said.

The second-term legislator said Matiang'i does not have the right legitimise a protest.

Those NASA thugs who think they are above the law MUST be arrested and charged. The police is NOT for babysitting NASA thugs, they have better things to do ...

This has nothing to do with " every person's right, to peaceably and unarmed, to assemble, to demonstrate, to picket, and to present petitions to public authorities." it's purely thuggery, lawlessness, economic and political sabotage

This matter is too important to be tribalized. We have hooligans destroying arbitrarily, even in their own backyards, and I can swear that there are bitter victims in Kisumu too.

Let us see Magaya plead for himself. JaKuon Mpendachupi of course is the head inciter, who understood how it works when he was trying to get Uhuru, Ruto and others jailed, but plays possum even when video and audio evidence is available.
