Here is what happened when Ochuka et al decided to try and overthrow the regime of Daniel arap Moi. Raila has publicly acknowledged that he supported the bloody coup.

Thanks Dr. You are a genius. The Luo there struggles but fails miserably to give legitimacy of their treasonable act. Death penalty for Ochuka was not good enough. It should have been extented to entire core planners of the coup, Raila included

Its almost 30 years....i remember it was sunday and school holidays we hear of coup.I knew it was real.Its the day that made me realised Kenya will never be the same again.Come 2012 we need another coup!!!

I recognised Ngara - which was totally devastated. There was a shop looted called Mina Emporium in Ngara. These used to belong to the family of Indian school friends of mine (third generation born guys). They had three small textile shops and these guys were completely looted and wiped out. I felt sorry for them because many, many family members who depended on those shops for their earnings. Amazingly when school opened again I thought they won't come - but they were there. I expected them to be bitter but they weren't.......haven't seen the since we all left for secondary school.

I think it is after this Coup that Moi really turned the screws on and trusted NO ONE and started the real pillaging that characterised his 24 year rule.
